Emergency Preparedness 101

This course is specifically designed as a foundational emergency preparedness course, meant to give students of all ages and backgrounds the necessary skills, tools and practical knowledge to develop an effective emergency preparedness plan that is tailored to their specific situation. This course can stand alone, or build on Prometheus 2A Defense's Emergency Preparedness 201, 301 and 401 fieldcraft exercise.

Purpose

The Prometheus 2A Defense Emergency Preparedness courses give students, the skill sets, and tools to develop and execute emergency preparedness plans tailored for their situation and families. Emergency Preparedness 101 teaches students the necessary skills to develop a plan for "bugging-out" or "bunkering-in," to not only survive, but thrive for the first 72 hours of an emergency, contact help, and coordinate with family, friends and their Mutual Assistance Group (MAG).

Objective:

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Assess which threats and emergencies they are most likely to encounter

  • Turn off and on utilities in an emergency

  • Develop a long term survival pantry

  • Understand emergency water storage and requirements

  • Cook using alternative methods

  • Develop a basic security and defensive plan

  • Develop a basic P.A.C.E. plan for communications during emergencies

  • Develop a plan and assist in self-recovery and community recovery and stabilization operations

Prerequisite​

The desire to be prepared and self sufficient in an emergency

Assessment

After Class

Students will receive a certificate of completion, and a small survival starter pouch with basic tools to help start them on their preparedness journey.
